ABSTRACT
As global ecological crises intensify, there is a growing recognition that addressing environmental challenges requires not only scientific understanding but also ethical transformation. This article proposes an integrative framework that combines the Ten Principles of Ecology with the moral philosophy of Confucian eco-humanism. Drawing on core Confucian values such as xiao (filial piety), de (virtue), li (ritual propriety), he (harmony), and tianren heyi (the unity of Heaven and humanity), the study reinterprets ecological processes through the lens of relational ethics and cosmological unity. Each ecological principle—from energy flow to biodiversity—is paired with a corresponding Confucian virtue, demonstrating their conceptual compatibility and mutual reinforcement. The article introduces a Four-Pillar Model for Eco-Confucian Environmental Education, consisting of Awareness, Responsibility, Harmony, and Resilience. This model is designed to cultivate dual ecological consciousness: scientific literacy and moral responsibility. It is adaptable for implementation in school curricula, public awareness campaigns, and community conservation programs. Through this integrative pedagogy, learners are equipped not only with knowledge about ecological systems but also with the ethical sensibilities necessary for long-term sustainability. The conclusion emphasizes the potential of Confucian-inspired environmental education to foster planetary citizenship rooted in both cognitive understanding and moral action. By harmonizing traditional wisdom with ecological science, this article contributes to a transformative vision of environmental education for the Anthropocene.
